Music Education & Biology

About Miss Hallett
Hello! My name is Colleen Hallett, and I am a pre-service teacher studying music education and biology at Brandon University. I will graduate in May of 2023, and I am counting down the days until I can begin my adventures as an educator!
Growing up in Southwestern Manitoba provided me with many wonderful opportunities for musical enrichment and participation in events such as Westman Honour Band, Westman Youth Choir, Manitoba Honour Choir, and Brandon's "Mecca" musical productions.
My love for environmental sciences, singing, and playing brass instruments prompted me to pursue a career in music and science education, where I hope to inspire young learners to safeguard this planet and pursue their creative passions!

My Musical Journey

Teaching Philosophy
A Career of Compassion
I believe that in order to effectively teach students the "HOW" of music, I must know WHO they are as individuals!
My teaching style is rooted in connection, collaboration, and community building. When the needs of students are consistently met through D.I. and U.D.L, they are able to perform to the best of their unique ability.
When students are members of supportive classroom community that places value on prior knowledge and diverse cultural perspectives, my future students will be active participants in their unique learning journeys.
I want my students to feel welcome, cared for, and supported within my band room.
